Akron, Ohio — [December 18, 2025] — The Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority (AMHA) proudly recognized two distinguished leaders during today’s Board of Directors meeting, honoring Tom Harnden for 20 years of exemplary board service and celebrating Tony O’Leary, former AMHA Executive Director, for his recent induction into the Housing Hall of Fame.

AMHA recognized Tom Harnden for two decades of dedicated service on the AMHA Board of Directors, where he has played a critical role in guiding the agency’s vision and strengthening its connection to the community. In addition to his board service, Harden has been an instrumental leader on the board of AMHA’s nonprofit affiliate, Building for Tomorrow, where his commitment to community development, resident opportunity, and long-term impact continues to shape the organization’s work.

“Tom Harnden’s steady leadership, deep community roots, and unwavering commitment to AMHA’s mission have made a lasting difference,” said Herman L. Hill, Executive Director of AMHA. “For 20 years, his guidance and voice have helped strengthen our organization and advance meaningful outcomes for the residents and communities we serve.”

The Board also celebrated Tony O’Leary’s induction into the Housing Hall of Fame, a prestigious honor recognizing individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the housing and community development field. As former Executive Director of AMHA, O’Leary provided visionary leadership that expanded access to quality affordable housing and strengthened partnerships across Akron and beyond. His legacy continues to influence AMHA’s work and impact today.
